Vector Landscape

Firstly I started with a rough draft sketch of how I wanted my landscape to be. Then I went to Adobe Illustrator to create a new file, choosing the horizontal landscape. I began with adding a rectangle using the rectangle tool so that I could add my background. I applied a linear gradient to the rectangle using the gradient tool, then rearranged it to 90 degrees so that the colors could appear horizontal and in order from up to down. Then, I added another rectangle to the bottom of the art board, this would eventually become the foreground. I selected the colors that I wanted my background and foreground to be, they created a nice calming background aura. Before moving ahead to creating my middle ground, I added the eclipse from the rectangle tool which would become my sun. The gradient of the sun had to be different from the background, so instead of choosing the linear gradient, I chose the radial gradient. This would make the sun appear to be shining outwards. Not only that, I also added an outer glow to the sun! To do this, I went to fx on the Properties board, selected Stylize, and then selected Outer Glow. Now onto the middle ground! I knew I wanted my middle ground to have mountains and trees, so I searched up inspiration from the internet to trace a mountain range. I selected a picture of the Yosemite National Park to trace with the pen tool, dragging it and clicking to each range and then going all the way down to the bottom of the art board, across the bottom, and back to where I started the image tracing. I did this twice as I did two separate tracings so that the mountains could appear distanced in range. For the clouds, I used the rectangle tool again and used the eclipses, making them overlap one another to take on the shape of a cloud. I used Stroke/Fill to color the clouds pearly white. Then I grouped the eclipses so that I could move the cloud around as one unit and connected them with the Shape Builder Tool, essentially welding all the eclipses together. To make the cloud appear transparent, I went to fx on the Properties board, Blur, and then clicked Gaussian Blur. To make them appear more transparent, I went to the Properties board again and lowered the Opacity percentage. Creating the trees with the Pen/Curvature Tool was the rough part. The trees that I had made weren't coming out the way I wanted them to, so in substitution, I went back to the internet to find trees suitable for my landscape. Once I found a pair of trees that I'd liked, I transformed the image to be a vector so that whenever I enlarge or shrink the tree, it would still appear smooth. I copy and pasted the trees around the art board and changed the colors of each and every tree so that each one was unique. After that I selected what I wanted to be reflected in the foreground by the water, and copy and pasted it to be upside down. This gave the effect of water reflecting the range.

Animators and Color Stylists use AI in their profession to make their artworks appear smooth and free flowing.

The landscape I wanted to create was a mountain range in the distance that was covered by trees. I'm happy with the outcome I came up with even though it did differ from what I was originally thinking. My final project exceeded the expectations I set for myself.

I think my project meets the criteria, I don't know if I would say that I exceeded. I am happy with the outcome whether I believe I've met or exceeded the standards.
